ADVICE ON SURFING THE WEB.

Surfing the web can be fun for kids. Over the internet they can learn, play and learn things to help them with their homework. Don't forget it's better for you to be with them when they log on and that way you can learn together!

Bear these things in mind too:

- Install an anti-virus programme so your computer doesn't get infected. If you don't already have one we have a link here to the best ones on the web for you to download.

- Forums are better than chatrooms but if your child does enter a chatroom make sure they never give out ANY personal information or open ANY files that are sent to them via the room.

- Having an e-mail address is extremely practical these days. La Banda provides this service so the kids can keep in touch with their friends and family.Go to webmail.
It's advisable to not open email attachments if you don't know the sender and to not send personal details or photographs to unknown addresses.

- It's important to be aware of the risks involved in going online. To keep away from anything harmful it's best to set up some internet filters. www.navegacion-segura.red.es

- Remind your kids that they should never give out personal information (including their name, address, telephone number, name or address of their school or names of their friends) and never use a credit card without supervision. They should NEVER make plans to meet anyone that they met on line without your approval.

They should never respond to messages that they don't understand or that make them feel uncomfortable. They should ignore anyone who sends these messages and inform someone they trust of what happened.
